Everybody will talk about how much they loved your food Christian and Sarah from Jersey tomatoes really saved the day for us. We were close to signing a caterer who was missing appointments even before a contract was signed. We are busy people and started to worry that this might become a problem. A friend of ours suggested Jersey Tomatoes. She had used them in her wedding. Since then she has used them for most other events she has been involved in organizing. She told me that the food will be amazing and they are very organized. We were at ease after our first meeting with them. Every step was explained and executed as promised. They handled our rentals and bar as well as the food. I can not believe how many people have told us that the food at our wedding was better than most. They also happen to be warm and fun people to be around. This will mean a lot as you get closer to the date and stress levels start to rise :-) Put your wedding in their capable hands.

#best caterer, #f-ing awesome, #weddingextraordinaires So grateful to have found Jersey Tomatoes for our wedding reception. April and Christian were wonderful to work with and did an outstanding job. Weeks after the wedding, our guests are still raving about the quality of the catering and staff. They couldn't be more right. All of the servers were lovely and the food, exquisite. We also very much appreciated the leftovers that made there way back to our hotel! A very nice touch, and a welcomed surprise. You Guys Rock!

[As I am about to post this (long-overdue) review of Jersey Tomatoes, I note that my sister already posted a review that covers most of what I am saying here. But here it is again, from a slightly different angle...] Hiring Jersey Tomatoes to cater our wedding was one of the easiest decisions we made in the whole planning process. They became the caterer of choice for my family after they catered my sister's wedding in September 2009 and blew everyone away with their delicious and unique food (served that time as a four course Top Chef style competition dinner - guests voted between two dishes each course prepared by two dueling chefs, and a winner was announced at the end of the reception - super fun!). We hired them for a couple of birthday dinner parties after that and, seriously, every bite of food I've tasted from them has been absolutely off the hook. I especially appreciate how they can make dishes that are vegetarian/vegan convertible - we are a family with meat eaters and vegans and everything in between, and every one of us is happy after a JT dinner. For our wedding in March, JT planned a family style "tapas" dinner with four amazing dishes all served at once to each table, which we thought was a really nice change from the typical buffet or plated dinners you find at most weddings - it added to the family feeling of our wedding and everyone got to try several different dishes. JT offered a gazillion choices for our passed appetizers and dinner selections, and everything sounded so damn amazing, that even after a tasting we still couldn't decide what to choose and decided to let them surprise us (Christian told us this was a first - he loved that we wanted to do this). We knew we would love everything they made and we did. (I had a friend coordinate getting our menus printed so that on our wedding day we were seeing the menu for the first time along with our guests.) JT also did a fabulous job of working with me to really understand what I wanted and handling so many details of the wedding reception - all of the rentals (from tables and table cloths to coat racks and hurricanes to the kitchen that they BUILT outside because our venue didn't have a kitchen), bar service, set-up and break-down (in ridiculously tight time-frame). Christian really took ownership of the whole process and delivered a seamless event under some pretty crazy conditions (the rainiest Saturday in March, in that outdoor kitchen they built, battling wind and rain, all unbeknownst to us inside, getting our drink on and having a lovely cozy evening in the Presidio Log Cabin). I can highly recommend Jersey Tomatoes for any occasion where you want local, fresh, unique, delicious food and great service.

Christian and crew catered our wedding in April and we couldn't have been more pleased with the food. He handled every detail we asked for beautifully; from the set-up and breakdown of the greenhouse location to organizing the dessert station (even though it was from another vendor). Christian created a menu of seasonal and unique appetizer options for us and the guests could not believe how delicious every last bite was. He also visited the location with us and helped decide what the best flow for tables and service would be. Everything was amazing. His staff was fun, pleasant, and helpful- it was a relief to feel like everything was being taken care of...and it was!

This is all that needs to be said: Our fresh, seasonal produce comes directly from the sustainable small farms that we love. Our seafood is sustainably caught and cultured. Our meat products have no antibiotics, synthetic hormones or pesticides, no GMO seeds, 100% certified organic feed, no nitrates or preservatives. Family farmers raise the animals, they are treated humanely and the birds we cook are free ranging! I like meat. I like knowing that my meat lived the happiest life possible before I eat it. Seeing dedication like this makes me very very happy. I cannot wait to try their services for my next business dinner or teambuilding. I'm salivating just thinking about it.

Delicious Jersey Tomatoes Restaurant in San Francisco - Visit Us Today!

Jersey Tomatoes are renowned for their unique flavor, robust texture, and the vibrant memories they evoke for anyone who has experienced their taste. Whether you’re in San Francisco at 138 6th St or anywhere else in the world, the craving for these tomatoes is universal. The essence of Jersey Tomatoes goes beyond just being a vegetable; they symbolize the peak of summer and the joy of farm-to-table freshness.

The Unmistakable Charm of Jersey Tomatoes

When we talk about Jersey Tomatoes, we're referring to a specific type of tomato that has become legendary for its taste. The first bite of a ripe Jersey Tomato delivers an explosion of flavor—sweet, yet tangy, with just the right amount of acidity. This balance is what sets Jersey Tomatoes apart from other varieties, making them a favorite among chefs and home cooks alike.

The charm of Jersey Tomatoes lies in their heritage and cultivation. These tomatoes are grown in New Jersey’s rich, loamy soil, which contributes to their superior flavor. The state’s moderate climate, coupled with the expert care of local farmers, ensures that each tomato reaches its full potential. Unlike mass-produced varieties, Jersey Tomatoes are often harvested at their peak ripeness, meaning you get a tomato that’s full of natural sugars and rich flavors.

One might ask why Jersey Tomatoes are so revered, especially in a place as far away as San Francisco. The answer lies in their versatility and the nostalgia they invoke. For many, Jersey Tomatoes are a taste of home, a reminder of summer days spent at family farms or farmer’s markets. They’re perfect for everything from a simple tomato salad to a hearty marinara sauce. Their thick skin and firm flesh make them ideal for slicing, grilling, or even eating fresh with just a sprinkle of salt.

Growing Jersey Tomatoes: A Tradition Rooted in Excellence

The process of growing Jersey Tomatoes is as much an art as it is a science. Farmers in New Jersey have perfected the techniques over generations, understanding that the secret to a great tomato lies in the care and attention given during the growing season.

To start, Jersey Tomatoes are typically grown from heirloom seeds, passed down through families or carefully selected for their superior qualities. The seeds are sown in rich, well-drained soil, which is critical for producing the best flavor. The soil in New Jersey is naturally fertile, but farmers often enrich it with organic compost to ensure the tomatoes get all the nutrients they need.

One key aspect of growing Jersey Tomatoes is the timing of the harvest. Unlike tomatoes that are picked green and ripened artificially during transport, Jersey Tomatoes are harvested when they are fully ripe. This means they’ve had the chance to develop their full flavor profile on the vine. The result is a tomato that’s sweet, juicy, and bursting with flavor.

Another important factor is the use of natural pest control methods. Many Jersey Tomato farmers employ organic farming practices, avoiding synthetic pesticides that can affect the taste and quality of the tomatoes. Instead, they use methods like crop rotation, natural predators, and organic sprays to keep their crops healthy.

Finally, the relationship between farmers and the land is one of respect and stewardship. The farmers understand that sustainable practices are key to maintaining the quality of their tomatoes year after year. They work in harmony with the environment, ensuring that their farming methods not only produce the best tomatoes but also protect the land for future generations.

Jersey Tomatoes in the Kitchen: Endless Culinary Possibilities

The culinary possibilities with Jersey Tomatoes are endless, making them a staple in kitchens across the country. Their unique flavor and texture allow them to shine in a variety of dishes, from simple salads to complex sauces.

One of the most popular ways to enjoy Jersey Tomatoes is in a classic Caprese salad. The combination of fresh, sliced Jersey Tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil, drizzled with olive oil and a touch of balsamic vinegar, is a celebration of simplicity and flavor. The tomatoes’ natural sweetness balances perfectly with the creaminess of the cheese and the herbaceous notes of the basil.

For those who love to cook, Jersey Tomatoes are a dream ingredient for sauces. Their high natural sugar content means they caramelize beautifully when cooked, adding a depth of flavor to marinara and other tomato-based sauces. A simple marinara made with Jersey Tomatoes, garlic, and fresh herbs can elevate any pasta dish, providing a taste of summer all year round.

Grilling Jersey Tomatoes brings out another layer of their flavor. The char from the grill contrasts with their sweetness, creating a complex taste that’s perfect for sandwiches, burgers, or as a side dish. Grilled Jersey Tomatoes, topped with a sprinkle of sea salt and a drizzle of olive oil, can be a star on any summer barbecue menu.

Jersey Tomatoes are also ideal for canning and preserving, allowing you to enjoy their flavor even in the depths of winter. Canning Jersey Tomatoes at home is a tradition for many, capturing the essence of summer in a jar. These canned tomatoes can be used in soups, stews, and sauces throughout the year, bringing a touch of sunshine to winter meals.

Where to Find Jersey Tomatoes: From Farm to Table

Finding Jersey Tomatoes can be a bit of a challenge, especially if you’re outside of New Jersey. However, the demand for these tomatoes has led to them being available in select markets and specialty stores across the country, including places as far as San Francisco.

For those in the San Francisco area, 138 6th St is a notable location where you can find fresh Jersey Tomatoes during the season. Many local markets and grocery stores in the area recognize the value of Jersey Tomatoes and stock them when they’re in season. Farmers' markets are also a great place to find Jersey Tomatoes, as local vendors often bring them in from farms that specialize in these prized tomatoes.

If you’re not able to find fresh Jersey Tomatoes in your area, many online retailers offer them for delivery. While shipping fresh produce can be tricky, many companies have developed methods to ensure the tomatoes arrive at your door in peak condition. Look for vendors that ship directly from New Jersey farms to guarantee you’re getting the real thing.

Another option is to grow Jersey Tomatoes at home. While they may not be native to the West Coast, Jersey Tomatoes can be successfully grown in a home garden with the right care. Start with heirloom seeds from a trusted source, plant them in well-drained soil, and ensure they get plenty of sunshine. With a little patience, you can enjoy the taste of Jersey Tomatoes straight from your garden.

The Cultural Significance of Jersey Tomatoes

Beyond their culinary uses, Jersey Tomatoes hold a special place in the hearts of those who grew up in New Jersey or have a connection to the area. They are a symbol of the state’s agricultural heritage and a reminder of the importance of local farming.

Jersey Tomatoes are celebrated in festivals and events across New Jersey, where locals come together to honor this iconic fruit. These festivals often feature tomato-tasting contests, cooking demonstrations, and other activities that highlight the versatility and flavor of Jersey Tomatoes. They are a way for the community to come together and share their love for this beloved tomato.

In many ways, Jersey Tomatoes are more than just a food—they are a part of the cultural fabric of New Jersey. They represent the hard work and dedication of the farmers who grow them, the joy of summer’s harvest, and the simple pleasure of a perfectly ripe tomato.

In conclusion, Jersey Tomatoes are a testament to the power of local agriculture and the importance of tradition. Whether you’re enjoying them fresh, cooking them into a sauce, or simply appreciating their history, Jersey Tomatoes offer a taste experience like no other.
